Rodent Packet Program 2020
As the cold months approach, preparing for winter pests is always a good idea. Here are a few tips for the off-season:
- Clean your boat thoroughly. Make sure that no food, trash or other potentially alluring odors exist on your boat. If you need locating a professional detail service, let us know.
- Use rodent packs. Rodent packets are available at the Ships Store for $4.99 a bag, and we offer a service in which we rotate the bags for $1.00. Bags do not guarantee the elimination of pests but can be a deterrent. Download the form below.
- Consider having pest damage coverage added to your insurance policy. Boat owners are financially responsible for any damage caused by critters.
- Consider having your boat wrapped. Kimzey Boat Wrap can provide this service, which will ensure nothing gets in your boat during the off-season.
Kimzey Boat Wrap – – 214.850.2910
- Come and check on your boat often. The pests are deterred by the human scent, and if there is any evidence of animal presence, we can only combat it if we are aware.

Weather Update: December 13
Docks will be open beginning tomorrow at 9:00, except for A Dock, which will still be closed unless the remaining ice on the walkway melts. All other docks are accessible. The Ships Store will be open from 9:00 to 5:00.
The ice on the roofs has melted and docks are nearly back to normal. Some supports have been bent, and CCM is working on figuring out the best track for repairs.
We encourage all tenants to come and inspect their boats. A Dock should be open soon, after a little more of these above freezing temperatures.
The gates at the Ships Store were deactivated. Currently only the north gate is reprogrammed, so everyone will need to enter through the Ships Store or the north gate (bathroom side of building). If you have any issues with key cards, please let us know. The gates are programmed manually, and although we do our best, there is a chance for human error. We encourage you to come to see your boat during business hours in case of any such issues.
We want to thank everyone for their patience as we have dealt with this weather. The support we’ve received from CCM tenants has truly been appreciated. You can email me at if you have questions.
Weather Update 12/12
Weather Update: December 12
Please do not try to enter the docks until further notification. The Ships store is keeping regular hours (9:00-5:00). Docks should be open to tenants by Saturday if the current progress continues.
Ice has melted substantially, and even H and K Dock are looking much better. You can find pictures from this afternoon on facebook.com/cottonwoodcreekmarina. Ice is still falling from the roofs and docks are not fully level. Once things level out, the docks will be open to tenants.
We will continue to send updates as we have more information. Once the docks are open, we encourage you to come and check on your boat. We will notify you if we notice anything out of the ordinary. You can email me at if you have questions.
Weather Update 12/10
Please do not try to enter the docks until further notification. The Ships Store will be open to tenants beginning tomorrow morning at 9:00, and will resume normal hours. Docks will not be open until further notification.
Ice is continuing to melt, and docks are slowly rising, but we still have a long way to go. If the sun continues to shine on the docks today, we may be leveling out tomorrow.
We will continue to send updates as we have more information. Our primary concern is the safety of our tenants and staff, closely followed by the care of our tenants’ boats. You can email me at if you have questions.
Ice Update 12/9
Weather Update: December 9
Please do not try to enter Cottonwood Creek Marina until further notification. The marina is still closed because of ice accumulation. The marina will be closed to tenants on Tuesday. We hope to reopen on Wednesday, but that will be determined by ice melt.
Staff has inspected all docks. The thaw continues, but progress is slow. Boats on A, C, D, E, F and G Docks seem to be unaffected by ice accumulation. Most boats on H and K seem fine as well. There are a couple boats on H that have towers or bimini tops that have come into contact with the lowered roof. We going to have to wait for the docks to rise to inspect the boats more closely. Roofs are still holding and power is on to all docks.
More photos are being posted on Facebook. Staff will be here again tomorrow. The marina will need to be repaired in places, but we won’t be able to fully assess the damage until the ice fully melts.
We will continue to send updates as we have more information. Our primary concern is the safety of our tenants and staff, closely followed by the care of our tenants’ boats. Once we reopen, we encourage every boat owner to come inspect his/her boat. You can email me at if you have questions.
Texas Water Needs Your Vote!
In the upcoming General Election on November 5, 2013, Texans will have an opportunity to vote on nine amendments to the Texas Constitution, including Proposition 6 concerning Texas water.
Proposition 6 – What It Is
In 2011, Texas suffered the worst, single-year drought in our state’s history. The drought, which continues today, costs Texans billions of dollars in lost income annually. And, some Texas communities struggle to maintain adequate supplies of clean, affordable water. To help address the water supply shortfalls associated with drought, Texas has a State Water Plan.
The 83rd Texas Legislature put Texas on a course to implement our state’s water plan by passing a package of water legislation: House Bill 4 by Rep. Allan Ritter and Sen. Troy Fraser; Senate Joint Resolution 1 (also known as Proposition 6) by Sen. Tommy Williams and Rep. Jim Pitts; and House Bill 1025, also by Sen. Williams and Rep. Pitts. The 83rd Legislature’s water legislation will work in concert to:
- Set up a revolving loan program to local governmental entities – such as municipalities – that are sponsoring local water projects.
- Dedicate a one-time investment of $2 billion to help capitalize the program, if voters approve Proposition 6, which will appear on ballots November 5, 2013.
The 83rd Texas Legislature’s support for our State Water Pan follows nearly two decades of water planning. By working with local representatives to determine current and future water needs, our state water planning process is designed to help protect public health and our economy from the impacts of drought. On November 5, 2013 Texans can vote on implementation of our State Water Plan – a one-time investment designed to address our water needs today and 50 years into the future. To find out more about where and when t vote on Proposition 6, please visit the Texas Secretary of State’s website at VoteTexas.Gov.

July Updates
10 Year Tenants
Since it’s our 10th Anniversary, Cottonwood Creek Marina wants to recognize the three families that have been here since 2003, our first year of business. The Lear, Shipman and Young families are our longest standing tenants, and we thank them for being with us from the beginning.
Marina Addition
You may notice some construction equipment along the shoreline over the next few weeks. Cottonwood Creek Marina is making a small expansion of C and D Docks (40’ and 32’ slips). Atlantic Meeco will be installing the docks over the next few weeks. After their installation is complete, electricity and plumbing will be added. We expect the slips to be open by the middle of September. Check out the picture below.
Christmas in July
It’s Christmas in July here at the Ships Store. Get 25% off all swimwear and footwear for the rest of the month. Come by the store and check out our inventory. Also, Cottonwood Creek Marina is still offering boat cleanings. Our rate is $35/hour. Make sure to schedule by Wednesday to have your boat cleaned for the weekend.
Zebra Mussel Found on Lake Lewisville
Many of you have probably already heard the reports – a zebra mussel has been found in Lake Lewisville. At this point only one live zebra mussel has been found. It was located by the dam and is believed to have arrived on a boat that came from another infested lake.
Click HERE to find information posted by Texas Parks and Wildlife on the recent zebra mussel sighting. Click HERE to find out how to properly clean and dry your boat before transporting it between lakes.
You can find a good resource on proper care for boats stored on a lake with zebra mussels HERE. Some important suggestions include frequent boat use, storing boats on boatlifts, raising outboards out of the water when stored and the use of motor flushers. Cottonwood Creek Marina will now carry motor flushers in the ships store for outboard motor cleanings at a cost of only $5.40.
Although the appearance of this invasive species is disheartening, Cottonwood Creek Marina is confident that zebramussels will not undermine the pleasure that comes from recreational boating on Lake Lewisville. Please give us a call or stop by the ships store with any questions. As we learn more information, we will share it with you.
