Cottonwood Creek Marina: A Family-Owned Legacy in Little Elm, Texas
In the heart of sweet ol’ Little Elm, Texas, along the sandy shores of Lewisville Lake, Cottonwood Creek Marina truly stands out among the rest. Why, you may ask? Cottonwood Creek is the definition of a true-blue family-owned business built on generational experience.
A Marina Rooted in Family History on Lewisville Lake
The story begins well before Cottonwood Creek Marina was even born. Our General Manager for the past 13-plus years, Ryan Miller, comes from a deep-rooted lineage in the marina industry. His grandfather, Tom Miller, first owned Grandpappy Point Marina on Lake Texoma in the 1950s and 60s, laying the foundation for what would become a lasting family tradition.
As time went on, this tradition carried on through Ryan’s father, who decided to introduce the charming town of Little Elm to the family business by opening Cottonwood Creek Marina in 2003. At the time, the surrounding area, now known for planned communities like Prairie Oaks of Little Elm and North Lake Estates, was still developing into the vibrant lakefront destination it is today.
Growing with the Town of Little Elm, Texas
As the town of Little Elm began to expand, so did Cottonwood Creek Marina. What started as a local marina grew alongside the community, becoming a go-to destination for watersports, kayaking, and waterfront living.
With increasing interest in Little Elm realty and lakefront properties, more residents and visitors began looking toward Lewisville Lake as a lifestyle. Cottonwood Creek naturally became part of life here, offering a place where people could easily access the water while feeling connected to something more personal than a typical marina.
What Makes This Family-Owned Business Feel Like Home?
The core of what makes Cottonwood Creek Marina truly feel like home to long-time locals and welcomed newcomers is the people behind it all. As a family-owned business, the marina has maintained a sense of intentional familiarity and reliable consistency that keeps boaters coming back season after season.
Ryan Miller returned to Little Elm after college to work full-time in the family business, continuing the legacy that started decades before him. That continuity shows in the way the marina operates today, with a community-driven mindset.
